San Diego: Childhood Photography

My niece Ruby was on fire with a little “lipstick” (Chapstick;) and borrowed shades. This image is the album cover of a photo book I recently made for my grandmother. After thumbing through the end product last week, I was reminded of how beautiful it can be to physically hold a photograph. When so many of the images we view are on a screen, there is magic in holding the images of loved ones in our hands. There is beauty in a material artifact that is tangible and fragile like us. Thanks to all of my family that participated in this shoot, grandma loves the book!

Rancho Santa Fe: Newborn Session

It amazes me how one can feel a snapshot of someone’s budding personality only a few weeks into life. This little one looked for her parents’ sweet faces and was instantly comforted by her siblings’ hand while laying next to her on the bed. Happy to have had the opportunity to capture this family’s warm embrace of their new little girl.

San Diego: Business Marketing Photography

I had fun playing with flowers, feathers, mirrors, and other props used for styling this shoot. Neryeda Varias is a down-to-earth beauty with a wellness business providing: hatha yoga, reiki energy work, essential oils, hypnotherapy, spiritual life coaching, and guided meditation practices. She is a beautiful person inside and out. If you have never tried any of the services, treat yourself to a beautiful experience. I enjoyed coming up with creative concepts for her website and social media marketing. The first image was used to create the front of her business card. Enjoy this free-spirited shoot!

Family Photography: Del Mar

As the Beatles say “Here comes the sun little darling…and it’s alright.” This family brought the sun to our “May gray” spring mini session. Warmth and connection was felt as bothers held hands to help each other climb logs and dad playfully flirted with mom. I hope these photos remind the boys of their childhood curiosity, zest for life, and the love of family.

Newborn shoots can be magical when curated to capture the connection of this new life to everyone else in the family (along with the traditional sweet sleepy images). I’ve had the honor of capturing this family over the years beginning with the maternity and newborn session of their oldest son.
